Out of the arena - Good Morning Mr. Sunshine

Gorgeous beach ride. Loose rein. Calm focused horse. Stunning weather. Lovely companions. I couldn't have asked for more.

Val was still a bit of a handful to bridle, but much improved over our last beach trip. I had to use the fender on the trailer for an impromptu mounting block as the sand piles on the side of the road weren't tall enough to mount from. My horse is tall - I forgot how tall... we towered over Captain Sue and Honey Bee lol :) We were the picture of relaxation as we headed out over the ramp to the beach. I believe Val would have gone on for hours - he tried to continue going south as we neared the ramp to get back off of the beach.

I'm so pleased that we have made our way back to out of arena riding. Equally as much as I want to make progress in our dressage study, I want a happy, willing trail horse.

  1. wow how lovely! I am glad he is such a calm horse out of the arena. Not many people can say that about their dressage horses!

  2. Golden-

Val has been decidedly less than calm in the not too distant past... we're working our way back to it though. Today was a blast!

  4. You like my trails.....and I adore your beach!! Fabulous day...man that's pretty. Its just soooooo good to get thier minds out of the enclosure...and our butts & bodies undulating on the uneven grounds. So good for the seat and balance.

Val , he's just so cool! Glad that today inspired you!

  5. WOW! A dream ride. I get to ride on the beach, but not one like that. Glad Val was so well behaved. And glad you wore a helmet (can't help myself). I love the pictures.

  9. Carol-

I was SO tempted to skip the helmet Sunday... it was really beautiful, and I hate my current helmet. It is comfortable and safe but not flattering... (santa - did you hear that?)

I knew my friend wouldn't be wearing one, she never does. Since going off hard about a year ago I always wear it. :)

  10. Kate -

Bring them down :) I do short term boarding - there's a trail that leads right out to the beach, and then I could meet handsome Pie!
