From the Farmette #8 - What a long strange trip it's been...

Some of you are probably starting to think that I made up the Shimmy Shack and am actually living in my tack room next door to Val, sleeping on hay bales. Peeing in his stall (you know you've all done this). For various reasons I have not posted photographic evidence so far because...

Misplaced my camera in the move for a while

Found camera but neighbors kept running over my internet lines (because it took a r-e-a-l-l-y long time for my internet provider to come bury them)

Sometimes I skipped out on unpacking to spend quality time with my horse - mental health days

It takes a veritable storage genius with the patience of Job to solve the where will all my stuff go?! puzzle when you try to move (even a very small) house worth of possessions into a trailer

I will be officially + totally unpacked /  moved in tomorrow. (insert wild applause here) Photo tour to come ;)

  1. I have had my horses at many facilities where the horse's stalls were much cleaner than the human bathrooms, if there were human bathrooms at all. So, yes, I have indeed done that!

And, lucky you(!), getting underground lines for internet. All our lines are above ground, so every time the wind blows everything goes out!

I'm very much looking forward to the pictures and some updates from you!

  3. Yea girl!
what a wild ride ...having it all wiped out by mother nature, just when it seemed to be falling into place. To go for horse time IS PEACE OF MIND...one simply.must have that time....;)

You sound good, and the day is finally here for the moving
( cramming) in! It will be another adventure on the way to the cool destination.

Glad to see you on the blog roll again - on the top!

Happy Thanksgiving to you!! So much to be thankful for with all you've survived!

  4. Once I was at an event and desperately needed to pee--no privacy--and my friend said, "Just go in the horse trailer!" My initial reaction was shock, and my friend just laughed and said, "You do know what the horses do in there, right?"

Helpful peeing hint (and mind you, this is from a real pro)...Always keep a roll of paper towels at the farm. Great for wiping flyspray, wormer, and etc. off hands--and doubles as TP!

I can't wait for the tour!

  5. Everyone needs a mental health day once in a while. Some (like myself) need many of them. Can't wait for the tour, I'm sure you're a very organized person and that's why it's taking so long. Everything in its proper place, before pictures. And as for the other observation...who hasn't!

  6. can't say I've ever used a horse stall, but my boys have done it quite a few times! then again, they go everywhere, so nothing new there.
Glad to hear you're almost there!

  8. Every horse person I know has peed in a stall at some point. I wouldn't even consider it noteworthy!

    Congrats on the move :)
